Another great concert! (Nov. 29, 2008) What a pleasure to have Peter Taucher, guitar, and Willi Kulmer, saxophone, playing in such a warm, intimate setting! A real musical treat. We hope to have them back in the future. Peter's licks, loops & choices of musical material were outstanding. Willi is the perfect match, melodically, harmonically, and with improv. We see great potential for this duo, Mollzeit!

On Nov. 15th Sigi (Tpt.) & Dwight (Pfte) presented the CD Export / Import to great acclaim & applause. The press was there, gave a great billing for the performance (& the venue!). CDs flew out the door. (December, & already we're looking at reordering!) More in store from us soon. back to top of page

The Salon opening on October 11th,2008, was a fun and enjoyable, intimate event. I, Dwight, played ca 8 solo piano pieces (original compositions), and featured guest Siegfried Koch (trumpet and period trumpet specialist) & Dwight (piano) played selections from our new album Export / Import, also original compositions (Stone). Hearty applause and kudos were succeeded by the serving of libations and hors d'oeuvres. The room is small (seats ca 30) but is perfect for such salon performances, with a wonderful acoustic -- lots of wood! Many lingered long after the performance was over....

Please visit Claddagh Ring Cultural Centre for more information about our upcoming events.
The next event is a Gong concert featuring Peter Gabis, noted Austrian percussionist and Klangschalenheiler of international renown, on Friday night, Oct. 31st, at 19h30 here in Hartberg. Admission: € 20.

Earlier in September:

Just back from a vacation in the northern Sierra in California, we are now preparing for the opening of our cultural center and salon, the building of which was completed this summer. The Yamaha C7 concert grand was moved up to the salon in July, and we've been using it for rehearsal and recording since.

We spent the night at ca 2500m while hiking the Crystal Range (tops ca 3000m or 10,000 ft).

Speaking of recording, the takes are complete for the new Stone-Koch album featuring the renowned Austrian trumpet player (and baroque trumpet specialist) Siegfried Koch! The CD holds 12 original compositions by Stone for piano and trumpet, plus the song Pat, featuring Peter Taucher on guitar! Editing and mixing continues this weekend Sept. 13-14, and we will play some of the pieces from the CD at the Salon opening.

The Salon opening celebration is planned for Saturday, October 11th, 2008. Please call if you would like to attend (Oesterreich 43.3332.63925). A variety of events are forthcoming during this opening season, from acoustic guitar to small ensemble, including a Gong Concert on October 31st!

Please stay tuned for the programming.

Dwight Stone returned to Europe at the end of 2007 after a 6 month tour/vactaion in the States.

In October Stone performed in Boston at the Old Constitution Hall with Tes Kempner, Soprano, for the new Wiesenthal Center fundraiser.

Stone performed for the "Friday Nights Live" concert series at the Temple of Higher Consciousness in Escondido, CA, in Dec., 2007.

Stone currently resides in Hartberg, Austria, with his wife Margrit and son Christian. This beautiful natural setting is ideal for further music-making, composing, recording, and performance.

The CD of Pegasus Piano Pieces is expected during the month of April.
